Parish of Cumbrae

Cumbrae is a small island parish, which lies in North Ayrshire Council Area, some 7 miles (12 km) southeast of Rothesay in Argyll and Bute and 10 miles (17 km) northwest of Saltcoats in North Ayrshire and includes another small offshore island.

It is located in the old county of Bute and Arran, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 11.5 sq. km (4.4 sq. miles). The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
