Parish of Stromness

Stromness is a coastal island parish, which lies in Orkney Council Area, some 12 miles (20 km) west of Kirkwall in Orkney and 28 miles (45 km) north of Thurso in Highland and includes 2 other small offshore islands.

It is located in the old county of Orkney, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 33.7 sq. km (13 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Stromness. Stromness has Sandwick and Stenness as its neighbouring parishes.
