Dougray Scott

Stage and screen actor. Born Stephen Scott in Dunfermline (Fife), he was educated in Glenrothes before attending the Welsh College of Music and Drama where he was named most promising drama student. He adopted his grandmother's surname as his first name because his own had already been registered with the actor's union Equity. He began his acting career working in regional theatre, but got his break in 1995 with a part in the ITV drama Soldier, Soldier. Subsequently he has appeared in several other TV roles, including an adaptation of Iain Banks' (b.1954) The Crow Road (1996). His film appearances include Regeneration (1997), Deep Impact (1998), Ever After (1998), Gregory's Two Girls (1999), with John Gordon Sinclair (b.1962) and directed by Bill Forsyth (b.1946), Arabian Nights (2000), Mission Impossible II (2000) and Enigma (2001).

Scott is married with twins.
