Angus MacFadyen


1963 -

Actor. Born in Scotland, the son of a World Health Organisation doctor. MacFadyen was brought up in France and Denmark, before returning to read French and English at the University of Edinburgh. MacFadyen's acting career began with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He went on to study drama in London.

He came to notice in the TV drama Soldier, Soldier (1992), he also acted in The Brylcreem Boys (1997). His first, and most notable file role was as Robert the Bruce in Mel Gibson's pseudo-historical drama on the life of William Wallace Braveheart (1995). This was followed by Cradle Will Rock (1999) and Titus (1999), in which MacFadyen starred alongside fellow Scot Alan Cumming (b.1965).
