John Knox


1778 - 1845

Painter. Based in Glasgow, Knox was a noted painter of landscapes following the style of Alexander Nasmyth (1758 - 1840).

His works include The First Steamboat on the Clyde (c.1820) and South-Western View of Ben Lomond (1834), which can be seen in the Glasgow Art Gallery. He taught another noted landscapist, Horatio McCulloch (1805-67).
