Scott Harrison

1977 -

Boxer. Born in Bellshill, and brought up in Cambuslang, Harrison has been described as "the best Scottish boxer for generations". In 2002, he took the WBO featherweight championship by defeating Argentinian Julio Pablo Chacon at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow. He turned professional in 1996 and went on to win 18 of his 20 fights before taking the world championship. Harrison took the Commonwealth Featherweight Championship in Glasgow (2000) and added the British title in 2001.

Harrison faced problems with drink and drugs, compounded by some weeks in a Spanish jail following assault charges. Having been stripped of his title and his boxing licence, he announced a comeback in 2007.
