Thomas Bonnar


1810 - 1873

Interior designer. Born in Edinburgh, Bonnar was a successful interior decorator and mural painter. His work includes a fine drawing-room at Newbattle Abbey, drawing room decorations at Mortonhall House and offices for Nelson the publishers in Paternoster Row, London. Bonnar also designed ceilings for Thomas Nelson's home, St. Leonards, now part of the University of Edinburgh's Pollock Halls of Residence complex.

Bonnar lies buried in Dean Cemetery in NW Edinburgh.
