Michael Nairn1804 - 1858
Floor-cloth manufacturer. Born in Kirkcaldy, Nairn developed his family sail-cloth business to manufacture the floor-cloths. He began weaving canvas but, in 1847, was determined he could make money from the developing industry in hard-wearing floor-cloths. Unfortunately, Nairn died before his business showed great success.
