David Waldie

Surgeon and medical scientist. Born in Linlithgow, Waldie is credited with being the first to recommend, and make practicable, the use of the anaesthetic chloroform, which had been pioneered by Sir James Young Simpson (1811-70). He died in Calcutta (India).
