Alexander Gordon
(3rd Earl of Huntly)

? - 1524

Noble. Gordon succeeded his father George, the 2nd Earl, c.1502. He led the Scottish attack at Flodden (1513) and survived this battle which killed King James IV and many others of the Scottish Nobility. He was able to consolidate the position of the Gordons of Huntly as the pre-eminent family in the north of Scotland.

He was succeeded by his grandson, George (1514-62), who became the 4th Earl and went on to become High Chancellor of Scotland.
