Cecilia (Cissie) Loftus

1876 - 1943

Broadway actress, singer and mimic. Born in Glasgow, the daughter of music-hall star Marie Loftus (1857 - 1940), Loftus was educated in Convent schools in England while her mother toured. Such was her innate talent that she took a starring role at the Oxford Music Hall (London) at the age of only fifteen. She went on to play a variety of roles in the London theatres and on Broadway. She also starred in twelve films between 1913 and 1941, with the likes of Bette Davis and Ronald Colman.

She died in New York.
