Andrew Lindsay

1977 -

Olympic gold-medallist. Born in Portree (Isle of Skye), Lindsay was educated at Eton and the University of Oxford. He achieved his first rowing success in 1994, winning a bronze medal in the eights in the World Junior Championships. He went on to become a member of the Oxford University team in the 1997 and 1998 Boat Races on the River Thames. He continued his success in the eights taking gold medals in the Rowing World Cup (2000) and the Sydney Olympics in the same year. This was the first British men's eight to win an Olympic gold medal since 1912 and Lindsay was awarded an MBE for his efforts (2000).
