Thomas Clapperton


1879 - 1962

Sculptor. Born and educated in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, Clapperton attended the Art Colleges in Glasgow and London, eventually settling in London. He is noted as the sculptor of the war memorials of several Borders towns, including Galashiels and Selkirk. He also was responsible for the statue of Robert the Bruce by the entrance to Edinburgh Castle.
