Robert Noble


1857 - 1917

Artist. Born in Edinburgh, Noble based himself in East Linton and became a popular painter, known for his oils depicting East Lothian landscapes. One of his works, "Dirleton Church, East Lothian", hangs in the Tate Gallery in London. In 1897, he became the first Captain of East Linton Golf Club and was also instrumental in establishing the Tyneside Curling Club.

He lies buried in Prestonkirk Churchyard, East Linton.
