William Burns


1825 - ?

Minor poet. Born in Clackmannan, went to sea at the age of fourteen. He trained as a wood-carver in Glasgow and set up in business on his own account in Stirling in 1858. With failing health, he became a time-keeper with the Caledonian Railway.
