Richard Noble

1946 -

Holder of the world land speed record. Born in Edinburgh. Noble became the fastest man on earth in 1983 in the Nevada Desert (USA) reaching 1012 km/hour (633 mph). He went on to lead the Thrust SSC team, which broke the speed of sound for the first tine in a land-based vehicle, reaching 1220 km/hour (763 mph) in 1997.
