Andrew Crumey


1961 -

Author and journalist. Born in Glasgow, Crumey was brought up in Kirkintilloch (East Dunbartonshire), where he was educated at the High School. He read mathematics and physics at the University of St. Andrews and completed a doctorate in theoretical physics at Imperial College (London). After working as a university researcher and school-teacher, Crumey became a full-time writer and was appointed Literary Editor of the Scotland on Sunday newspaper in 2000. His books include Music, In A Foreign language (1994), which won a Saltire First Book Award, Pfitz (1995), D'Alembert's Principle (1996), Mr Mee (2000) and Mobius Dick (2004), which was nominated for the Man Booker Prize.
