Francis (Fran) Healy

1973 -

Singer and song-writer. Although born in Stafford (England), Healy moved to Glasgow where he attended the School of Art and formed the rock bank Travis, originally known as Glass Onion, along with Andy Dunlop (b.1972), Dougie Payne (b.1972) and Neil Primrose (b.1972). Healy became lead singer and principal songwriter. Signed by a record company in 1996, the band have proved popular, headlining many of the major rock festivals in the UK and with several sell-out tours of the USA. Their albums include Good Feeling (1997), The Man Who (1999), The Invisible Band (2001) and 12 Memories (2003), all of which entered the Top 10 in the UK, with two reaching No. 1. Their work has been honoured with three Brit Awards and Healy received an Ivor Novello Award in 1999 for his song Why Does It Always Rain On Me.
