Comedian, noted particularly for his television double-act with Ronnie Barker in The Two Ronnies. Born in Edinburgh and educated at the Royal High School in the city, Corbett's career began in amateur dramatics. He appeared with David Frost in the BBC TV comedy series The Frost Report (1966-7), where he first met Barker, and ITV's Frost on Sunday (1968-9), later starring in Sorry (1981-8), as well as proving enormously popular in pantomime. His film credits include minor roles in Casino Royale (1967), with David Niven and Peter Sellers, No Sex Please, We're British (1973), Fierce Creatures (1997) and Burke and Hare (2010).
Having fallen from fame in the late 1980s after the retiral of Barker, Corbett made a comeback in the 1990s, with numerous appearances on television and radio. He was reunited with Barker in a Royal Variety Performance (1997) and for The Two Ronnies Sketchbook (2005), shortly before Barker's death.
Corbett was awarded an OBE in 1978 and a CBE in 2012. He lives in the south of England but maintains a home at Gullane, where he is a keen amateur golfer and a member of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, whose course at Muirfield backs onto his house.
