Joseph (Joe) Egan

1946 -

Singer and songwriter. Born in Paisley, Egan as educated at St. Mirin's Academy there, where he met Gerry Rafferty (b. 1947). The pair joined various bands, for example The Sensors and The Mavericks, before gaining success with the folk-rock band Stealers Wheel which they founded in 1972. Their song Stuck in the Middle With You reached the Top Ten in the UK and the USA in 1973. Egan went on to produce two solo albums Back On The Road (1979) and Map (1981) before leaving the music business.
