Rev. John Row

1568 - 1646

Presbyterian churchman and ecclesiastical historian. Born in Perth, the son of another John Row (c. 1525-80), who had been prominent in the Reformation. He married Griselle, daughter of Protestant reformer David Ferguson (c.1525-98). Row wrote his History of the Kirk (1558 - 1637) while the Minister of Carnock in West Fife. This work was continued by his son, a further John Row (c.1598 - 1672) although it was not published until the 19th century. His gravestone can be found in the old churchyard of Carnock.
