King Malcolm II

c.954 - 1018

Scottish monarch. Son of King Kenneth II (d.995), but disputed inheritance with his second cousin King Kenneth III kept him from the throne until he killed Kenneth in 1005. He battled to expand his kingdom, gaining land down to the River Tweed and in Strathclyde. The latter caused decent which resulted in his murder at Glamis. He was buried on the Island of Iona. Having only daughters, he was succeeded by his grandson King Duncan I (c.1010-40).
