Michael Jamieson


1988 -

Olympic swimmer. Born in Glasgow, the son of a professional footballer, Jamieson was educated at Bellahouston Academy and trained regularly at Tollcross Swimming Centre in Glasgow. His event is the 200m breaststroke, and he won a bronze medal in the 2011 European Championships, followed by a silver in 2013. He also won silver medals in the World Championships of 2012 and the London Olympics in the same year. Despite expectations, he was only able to take another silver medal for Scotland in the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, being beaten to the gold by team-mate Ross Murdoch (b.1994).

Jamieson also served as an Ambassador for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
