Charles (Charlie) Flynn


1993 -

Boxer. Born in Lanark and residing in Newarthill in North Lanarkshire, Flynn took up boxing at age seven. Flynn quotes his inspiration as boxer Dick McTaggart (b.1935). He took part in the torch relay ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He won the Scottish Championships and the British Championships in 2013, but went on to take a gold medal in the XXth Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow in 2014, contributing to Scotland's best boxing performance at a Commonwealth Games since 1962.
