Jon Summers Baird

Film director and producer. Born in Peterhead, Baird was educated at Peterhead Academy and the University of Aberdeen before moving to London in the mid-1990s in an attempt to build a career in the film industry. After working for the BBC, he became as an associate producer for Green Street (2005) and made his directorial debut with Cass (2008), which told the story of a reformed football thug Cass Pennant. However, Baird came to public attention for the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's controversial novel Filth, with James McAvoy in the lead role. His other work includes the police drama-comedy series Babylon (2014) for Channel Four television.
