Architect. Based in Edinburgh, Hamilton was a proponent of the Greek revival style. He was responsible for a great number of public works in the city, including the Royal High School on Calton Hill (1829), George IV Bridge (1834) and the Royal College of Physicians (1846). He also influenced the development of the New Town and The Mound.
