Sir David Murray

1951 -

Entrepreneur. Born in Ayr, Murray was educated at Fettes College and Broughton High School (Edinburgh). He made his money in the steel industry. Despite losing both legs in a car crash in 1976, he became the chairman of Murray International Holdings and bought Rangers Football Club for £6 million in 1989. As Chairman of Rangers, Murray has been associated with sport sponsorship for many years. He is now involved in a diverse range of business activities and is one of Scotland's wealthiest individuals. He set up the Murray Foundation in 1996 to support amputees and their families.

He was knighted in the 2007 New Year Honours list.
