Golfer. Born in Bathgate (West Lothian). Gallacher turned professional in 1967 and went on to win 21 world-class titles, including the Spanish (1977) and French (1979) Open Championships. He became the youngest member of the European Ryder Cup Team (1969), was a member of successive teams until 1983 and its Captain (1991-95). He was Scottish Champion on four occasions.
