David Byrne

1952 -

Punk-rock singer and guitarist. Born in Dumbarton, but brought up in Baltimore (USA). He left the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in 1974 to begin a musical career, forming the punk-rock band Talking Heads with two of his fellow students. Their albums include Talking Heads 77 (1977), Fear of Music (1979), Remain in Light (1980) and Little Creatures (1985). Byrne was known for his experimentation with sound and his stage presence. From 1989 he has sought to follow a solo career.
