(1st Earl of Aberdeen)

1637 - 1720

Statesman and lawyer. The Gordons were Royalist, and benefited after the restoration of Charles I (1660). Gordon was appointed a Lord of Session (1680), becoming Lord President of the Court of Session (1681). He was created Earl of Aberdeen in 1682 and served as Lord High Chancellor of Scotland (1682-4).
