John Gordon Sinclair


1962 -

Actor. Born in Glasgow. Sinclair came to fame when he took the lead role in Bill Forsyth's (b.1946) film Gregory's Girl (1980). He had already starred in That Sinking Feeling (1979) and followed both up in Forsyth's third hit Local Hero (1983). Subsequently, he has appeared in several TV sitcoms, including An Actor's Life For Me (1985), Nelson's Column (1994) and Loved By You (1997). In 1995, Sinclair won an Olivier Award for his stage performance in She Loves Me.

Further film success has come with Terry Jones' comedy Erik the Viking (1989) and the wartime drama The Brylcreem Boys (1997). A re-partnering with Bill Forsyth gave rise to Gregory's Two Girls (1999.)
