Sir Francis Chichester1901 - 1972
Yachtsman. Chichester was born in Barnstaple (England), but made his fortune as a land agent in New Zealand. He won the first solo transatlantic yacht race in 1960 and made a solo circumnavigation of the world in 1966-67, after which he was knighted with Sir Francis Drake's sword.
