Dunblane Massacre Memorial, Dunblane Cathedral

A gunman kills 16 five-year-old children, their teacher and himself in the Primary School at Dunblane (Perth and Kinross) on Wednesday 13th March 1996. The Glasgow-born killer, Thomas Hamilton, was a gun collector and disaffected boy-scout leader but had given little indication of his unbalanced state of mind. This was the worst tragedy of its type in the UK which gave rise to considerable reflection and a significant tightening of British gun laws.

A 2-m (6½-foot) high memorial was erected in Dunblane Cathedral in 2000.
