Beecraigs Country Park

A country park offering a wide range of leisure and recreational facilities, Beecraigs nestles in the Bathgate Hills, 2 miles (3 km) south of Linlithgow in West Lothian. Extending over 370 ha (913 acres) of woodland, farmland and open space, its highest point is Cockleroy Hill. Designated in 1980, the park includes Beecraigs Loch, a 8-ha (20-acre) reservoir which is well-stocked for fishing, together with a caravan and camp-site, barbeque sites and facilities for a number of outdoor pursuits. Paths for walking and mountain bikes have been laid out, together with facilities for archery, climbing, canoeing, kayaking, orienteering and skiing. There is a visitor centre and restaurant at Whitebaulks, which is also the location for a red deer herd, introduced in 1977, and Highland Cattle that came in 2010. There are car parks at Whitebaulks and Balvormie. More than 400,000 people per annum visit the country park, which is run by West Lothian Council.
