Cairn o' Mount

(Cairn o' Mounth, Cairn a' Mounth, Cairn a' Mount)

A pass and a hill of S Aberdeenshire, Cairn o' Mount (sometimes Cairn o' Mounth, Cairn a' Mount or Cairn a' Mounth) rises to 455m (1492 feet) 4 miles (7 km) north of Fettercairn and 10 miles (16 km) south southwest of Banchory. The B974, which follows the route of an 18th century military road through the pass to connect lower Deeside with the Howe of the Mearns and the Vale of Strathmore, reaches its highest point at Cairn o' Mount, where there is a road-side view-point which gives commanding views to the south.
