Glasgow Climbing Centre

A sports facility in the Govan District of Glasgow, close to Ibrox Stadium, the Glasgow Climbing Centre opened in 1994. This spacious building houses a variety of climbing and bouldering walls up to 12m (40 feet) in height, which provide a challenge for beginners and experienced climbers alike. The centre is located in the former Ibrox Methodist Church, which was built as the Ibrox United Presbyterian Church in 1868. Originally a simple aisle-less church, a chancel and transepts were added in 1897. The facade of the building features a sizeable tower topped by a spire and a grand doorway. Inside many original features remain, including an elaborate open roof with carved wooden beams and fine stained glass.
