A medium-sized wind farm in E Caithness, Buolfruich overlooks the Moray Firth from Houstry, 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Latheronwheel. Commissioned in October 2005, the development comprises fifteen Vestas V52 turbines each with a blade diameter of 52m (171 feet) and generating 850 kW of power, giving a total generation capacity of 12.75 MW for the site. This wind farm is privately owned.
