Cumbernauld Airport

A small airport serving the town of Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire, Cumbernauld Airport is located next to the line of the Antonine Wall, a mile (1.4 km) west southwest of Castlecary and a similar distance northeast of Cumbernauld Village. The airport began as a grass strip in 1966. An 820-m (2690-feet) hard runway was laid in 1988 and the new airport was officially opened on 11th August 1989 by the Chairman of Cumbernauld Development Corporation. A single brightly-coloured terminal building incorporates the control tower.

The airport offers charter and aircraft maintenance services, together with a flying school training pilots for fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
