Fair Isle Airstrip

An airstrip in the centre of Fair Isle, providing a vital connection to Tingwall Airport on the Shetland Mainland, the single gravel runway is not flat - there is a distinct hump in the middle - and extends to 508m (1667 feet). Fair Isle Airport lies at 70m (229 feet) above sea level. It was built in 1969 and has the International Air Transport Association (IATA) location code "FIE". Flights also operate from Sumburgh Airport in the summer.
