Tap o' Noth

A prominent conical peak in W Aberdeenshire, Tap ' Noth rises to 563m (1847 feet) 1½ miles (2.5 km) northwest of Rhynie. A sizeable vitrified Iron-Age fort can be clearly distinguished on the summit, defined by rubble ramparts approximately 100m (328 feet) by 30m (98 feet) in size. There is evidence of a cistern which would have provided the residents with a water supply.
