Ca' D'Oro

Based on the Golden House in Venice, the Ca' D'Oro in Glasgow was built by John Honeyman in 1872 and is unique in its design which uses cast iron and glass to create a building with Doric and Corinthian pilasters which frame very large bay and round windows. Originally intended as a furniture warehouse it was actually used as a restaurant of the same name, though in 1990, after a fire, it re-opened as a bookshop and office development.
