Lighthouse on Cairn Point

A short-range navigation aid within Loch Ryan (Dumfries and Galloway) Loch Ryan Lighthouse, also known as Cairn Point Lighthouse, is located at Cairnryan. It was built in 1847 by the noted lighthouse engineer Alan Stevenson (1807-65) and automated in 1964. It is now remotely monitored from the Northern Lighthouse Board Headquarters in Edinburgh. The keepers' cottages have been demolished.
