Appin House

Set amongst 1.2 ha (3 acres) of landscaped gardens, Appin House is located 3 miles (5 km) north of Port Appin, on the eastern shore of the Sound of Shuna in Argyll and Bute, overlooking the island of Shuna. It comprises the remaining wing of an early 18th century classical mansion which was once the property of the Stewarts of Appin but was demolished in the 1960s. This white-painted wing, with a balustrade along the roof-line, was added during a remodelling of 1831. The wing has subsequently been converted into a family home, with self-catering holiday apartments built adjacent on the site of the former house.
