Located on Cavell Gardens on the east bank of the River Ness, a half-mile (0.8 km) south of the city centre, Inverness War Memorial comprises a tall Celtic cross on a large stepped base, all constructed in red sandstone 1921-22 by John Hinton Gall (1848 - 1929). The names of the fallen are recorded on tablets on the substantial walls which extend from the base. Dedicated on 11th November 2006, a small memorial in front commemorates those who served in the Burma Campaign (1941-45).
