Strathclyde Police Training and Recruitment Centre

Located at Jackton on the western edge of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, the Strathclyde Police Training and Recruitment Centre is the only purpose-built residential police training facility outside the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan Castle in Fife. The centre provides a state-of-the-art training facility, as well as a venue for conferences, meetings and hospitality. Built under the public sector Private Finance Initiative (PFI), the £27.5 million centre was opened by HRH Prince Charles on 3rd July 2002.

The centre incorporates a 200-seater lecture theatre and various meeting rooms, all with full audio-visual facilities, a television studio, library, gymnasium, driver training facility and firing range. There are thirty en-suite bedrooms for trainees, together with a dedicated restaurant and residents' lounge.

Training focusses around foundation training for new recruits, before they attend the Scottish Police College for standard basic training, together with driver instruction, training in the use of firearms and information technology, including administration and office systems, and continuous professional development.
