Chris Anderson Stadium

(Linksfield Stadium)

An athletics track in N Aberdeen, the Chris Anderson Stadium is now part of the Aberdeen Sports Village, located between Old Aberdeen and the King's Links, a mile (1.8 km) north of the city centre. Originally known as the Linksfield Stadium, which opened in 1988, it comprises an eight-lane 400m running track with associated jumping and throwing areas, together with a full-size football pitch and a stand which seats 500 spectators.

The stadium is named in memory of Chris Anderson (1925-86), an educational and sporting visionary who, as Vice-Chairman, helped take Aberdeen Football Club to the peak of success when they won the European Cup-Winners Cup in 1983.

The track was partially resurfaced in 1996 and the stadium completely redeveloped in a joint venture between Aberdeen City Council, the University of Aberdeen and sportscotland to become part of Aberdeen Sports Village, which opened in 2009. The running track was replaced in 2015.
