A loch in the Ettrick district of the Scottish Borders, St Mary's Loch lies mid-way between Selkirk and Moffat. It receives eight streams including the Megget Water and Kirkstead Burn. The River Yarrow issues from its northern end and Tibbie Shiels Inn and the Loch of the Lowes lies at the southern end of the loch. The loch is 3 miles (5 km) in length and a half-mile (1 km) wide, with the Southern Upland Way running along its eastern shore. Noted for its trout fishing, St Mary's Loch features in the poetry of William Wordsworth (1770 - 1850), Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832) and James Hogg (1770 - 1835), whose monument stands at the southern end of the loch.
