Water of Ken A stream of Dumfries and Galloway, the Water of Ken rises on the southern slopes of Blacklorg Hill to the northeast of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn. It flows southwestwards into The Glenkens valley through Carsfad Loch and Earlstoun Loch, passing St. John's Town of Dalry and New Galloway before expanding in width to form Loch Ken. Here it joins the River Dee, a total of 28 miles (46 km) from its source, and continues under that name to the sea.
