A substantial body of water at the head of Glen Lednock in W Perth & Kinross, Loch Lednock Reservoir is located 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Loch Earn and 5 miles (8 km) south of Loch Tay. Retained by a massive concrete buttress dam, 290m (950 feet) in length and 40m (132 feet) in height, which was designed to resist small earthquakes which occasionally occur along the nearby Highland Boundary Fault, the reservoir was constructed in 1957 as part of the Breadalbane Hydro-Electric Power Scheme. It receives water from Lochan Breaclaich (4½ miles / 7.5 km to the west) via the Lednock Power Station on its northwestern shore and supplies water to St. Fillans Power Station, 3 miles (5 km) to the south southwest.
