Press Castle

The 17th century mansion house of Press Castle lies within 5.3 ha (13 acres) of grounds at the head of the Ale Water, 2 miles (3 km) west of Coldingham. It was rebuilt in the 19th C. and now comprises three storeys (including a basement), castellated parapet and Tudor-Gothic entrance porch reached by a stairway. Used for a time as a hotel, the house was B-listed in 2000 and is now divided to be let as holiday apartments.
